It is nice to find a meal that has all the ingredients I need. Although I don’t need to follow a particular meal plan, I do have the option to mix and match the main and side dishes. However, I am often in a rush and don’t have the time to take the time to think about it. Although I have a lot of meals like these, I am always happy to find new ones to add to my repertoire. More bonuses?
In an effort to help you answer the question “What do you make for dinner?”, I would like to share with you some of my old and new meal plans. This is a recent meal where the food and flavors compliment each other very well. Although the food isn’t new to us, the flavor combinations are. That makes a huge difference.
The Meal
Honey Barbecue Meatloaf
Ranch Mashed Potatoes
You can choose the vegetable you like (I just cook a can of green beans, or corn).
Apple Cinnamon Muffins With Honey Cinnamon Butter
Tips to Make Ahead: The Honey Cinnamon Butter can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. The meat loaf can be prepared ahead of time and chilled before baking.
These are the Recipes
Honey Barbecue Meat Loaf
Although I don’t usually eat meat loaf, I love this one and my family loves it.
1 envelope dry onion soup mixture
1 egg
1/2 cup oats — quick cooking
1/3 cup barbecue sauce — honey flavored
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 tablespoon mustard — Prepared
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Chili powder 1/4 teaspoon
Ground beef 1 lb
Ketchup
Mix together the soup mix, egg and oats. Add onion, brown sugar Worcestershire sauce, mustard garlic powder, salt, pepper, chili powder and curry powder to a large bowl. Mix in beef. Place in an 8-in. x 4 in. x 4-in. loaf pan. Bake at 350°F for one hour. Serve with ketchup. Bake for 5-10 minutes or until meat is no pink and the meat thermometer registers 160*. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
